OLALEKAN ONI
In line with the weekly environmental sanitation exercise held every Thursday, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), today led members of his team on a clean-up exercise across parts of Ikeja.
The exercise took place in Anifowoshe Community and along Ilori Moses Street, where refuse and debris were evacuated from blocked drainage channels. Overgrown weeds were also cleared, thereby restoring the free flow of water and reducing the risk of flooding in the affected areas.
Speaking during the exercise, Comrade Dauda charged residents to desist from indiscriminate disposal of waste in drainage channels, noting that such acts remain a major cause of flooding within the Anifowoshe Community and other parts of Ikeja.
The Chairman emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment, stressing that environmental cleanliness is essential for preventing diseases, promoting public health, and enhancing the overall well-being of residents.
Also present at the exercise was the Head of Department, Environment and Sanitation, Sanitarian Omotayo, who led officials of the department to ensure the smooth and successful execution of the exercise.
The Council Chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to environmental sustainability and urged residents to partner with the Local Government in keeping Ikeja clean, safe, and habitable for all.
