A 31-year old man, Godspower Eriemo, believed to be deaf and dumb has been arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrates court for allegedly stealing a car in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect allegedly duplicated the key of a Sienna Car with registration number, KJA 351CJ, stole it from where it was parked at Itire and drove it to a hideout in Ikorodu area of Lagos where it was eventually recovered.
The car belonged to Mrs Blessing Bassey Udon who resides at 55 Oduselu Street in Itire, Lagos from where Eriemo reportedly stole the car.
Our correspondent gathered that Eriemo collected the car key from Udoh under the false pretence of assisting her to wash it.
When he collected the key, he allegedly went and duplicated the key, washed the car and returned the original key to the owner.
It was gathered that days later, Eriemo went to the house and used the duplicated key he had on him to open the car and drove it away early in the morning.
When the owner of the car prepared to go to work and went outside, she could not find the car.
The matter was reported at Itire Police division who interrogated Eriemo through an interpreter and he later confessed.
He then took the police to where he hid the car in the bush.

The car was recovered and brought to the Station as exhibit.
He was charged before the court for the alleged offence and was arraigned.
However, there was a drama at the court when Eriemo was arraigned for conspiracy and stealing of car.
When he was taken to the dock by the court registrar who read the charges against him for his plea to be taken,  he was demonstrating with his fingers and did not say what the court officials will hear and understand.
This caused heavy laughter and amusement in the open court.
At that point, the prosecutor, Mr Oje Uagbale told the court that the suspect be remanded in prison to enable the court to look for interpreter.
However, the presiding Magistrate, Mr N. Ogbe struck out the matter for lack of diligent prosecution, thus Eriemo was released and allowed to go home.
