A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Mushin Constituency 1, Honourable Funmilayo Tejuoso, is now counting her losses after she engaged the services of a domestic staff, who reportedly carted away a whopping sum of $27,000 which she kept at her Lagos home.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at her home located Sasegbon Street in GRA Ikeja, Lagos, where she resides with her family.
A suspect, Matthew Gouda, has been arrested in connection with the theft of the hard currency alongside jewelries said to worth millions of Naira.
Many have expressed surprises on how the suspect got to know that she had such amount of money at home.
After the incident, the suspect, Gouda, was said to have gone into hiding before the police apprehended him.
It was however not confirmed if those jewelries were recovered after his arrest.
The Police found him culpable after interrogation and later charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the police to prove the case against the defendant.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O Sule-Amzat, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The defendant, Gouda, was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 8th July, 2019.
