PRINCE OKWUDILI EMELUMBA
I spent my last days of 2020 in Ogbunike to witness some cultural events which revolved around Chief Dr Comr Eze-Harris Chuma Odili, Ogene Igbo. The climax of it all was on Dec 30, 2020, when he appeared publicly to father an age grade know as Utonwanne. One thing I observed about this enigma, is the popularity and acceptance, which he enjoys from his people. Azu Ogbunike and the entire Ogbunike stood to support Ogene Igbo.
I may be unable to say so many things about Comr Chuma, Ogene Igbo, but I can say that aside from being a beacon of hope, voice of the voiceless and a pillar of truth, Ogene is bastion of unity and peace in Ogbunike. He loves his people and his people love him.
Ogene fathers an age grade called Utonwanne Age Grade: the youngest age grade in Ogbunike. Made up of a lot of promising young men, who Ogene believes are the future hope of Ogbunike. Ogene believes in these young men! He has once again promised his unswerving support to these young men.
The outing on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 is one of the most peaceful gathering of young men anywhere in Anambra State. There was no form of fracas or disagreement. This shows the respect Ogene enjoys from his people. I listened to several side talks and comments during these events. One thing that was common in all of these side talks was that “if there are two other people like Ogene Igbo in Ogbunike, Ogbunike would be the best town in Anambra State.
As I celebrate the New Year, I am also celebrating the man of the people. A man of abundant love and good will.
