Buruj Sports Academy zoomed to the semifinal of their Dubai Invitational Trophy Cup after beating CFA, a team from the lower tier of United Arab Emirates League 1-0 on Wednesday.
The Nigerian representatives who thrilled the spectators at the Dubai Sevens Stadium with their free-flowing football on the natural green grass lost several scoring chances before they eventually got a goal after Buruj’s top striker Noah Salaudeen was hacked down in the 18 yard box , the subsequent penalty was converted by Nwaribeaku Stanley.
While reacting to the game, CFA Head Coach, Nibras, was full of plaudits for the Buruj Boys saying they deserved their win and predicted bright future for most of the young players on parade.
The CEO of the academy, Salaudeen Waheed, also hailed the spirit of the boys, vowing they will not rest on their oars until they return home with the title and dedicated the win to the Lagos No.1 citizen, Akinwunmi Ambode, who he said is a source of inspiration to the team.
