Man Stabs Another To Death Over N50

The police have arrested a man who stabbed another to death over N50 change in Lagos.

The incident happened on Wednesday at Isheri Oshun area of Lagos where they resided.

The identity of the suspect and victim were not yet known as the police declined the give their details as at the time of filing this report.

According to eye witnesses, the suspect allegedly bought an item worth N50 and gave the victim N100 and asked for N50 change. While the victim was looking for change, the suspect became angry claiming that the victim was delaying and wasting his time. That reportedly caused a disagreement between them and in the process the suspect broke a bottle and stabbed the victim on the head.

The victim bled profusely and before he could be rushed to the hospital he was already dead. The doctors only certified him dead at the hospital and the corpse was deposited at the mortuary.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered after the incident, the suspect attempted to escape but the people around held him and handed him over to the police at Isheri Oshun Division.

When our correspondent visited Isheri Oshun Division where the suspect was detained, the police declined to give details of what happened. Our correspondent contacted the Area Commander, Area M Idimu, ACP Augustines Akika, he confirmed the incident but declined to make further comments. He told the correspondent that the suspect has been transferred to the homicide department at SCIID, Pant Yaba.

Efforts to speak with the PPRO, SP Chike Oti proved abortive as his phone rang but he did not pick the calls.

Meanwhile, the incident became the talking point amongst Isheri Oshun residents. People were seen gathered in groups discussing the incident and many were not ready to talk to the press over fear of being arrested.
