The candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Otunba Segun Adewale, in the just concluded Ekiti State governorship election has frowned at how his deputy governorship candidate, Mrs. Anthonia Omonusi, betrayed him by defecting to the All Progressives Congress two days to the last Saturday governorship election in the state.

Adewale, in a statement issued by the Director of Media and Public Communications to his Campaign Organisation, Prince Adelaja Adeoye in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, said he was disappointed by the action of Omonusi who he accused of compromise and gave out information about his campaign strategies to the opposition.

The popular politician, also known as Aeroland, alleged that he was deserted by Omonusi, his polling unit agents, and some party excos because of money and these same people went ahead spreading propaganda that he has defected to APC which made thousands of his supporters not to cast their votes for ADP.

Adewale however expressed gratitude to all the Ekiti people for the support accorded him since the commencement of his electioneering campaign.

He noted that the peoples’ involvement in his campaign has further strengthens his resolve not to back down in his quest to lead the state.

He said, “Ekiti people have spoken and have chosen who they want, even though there were reports of voters inducement but notwithstanding Ekiti must move forward. Yesterday is gone, today is another day, let’s work towards a better tomorrow for our dear Ekiti.”

Adewale stressed that contrary to the public outrage and condemnation of voters, Ekiti people are the winner of the election because they still have the powers to elect another governor in four years to come after experiencing the incoming government.

Adewale then congratulated the governor-elect, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi on his electoral victory, charging him to implement peoples’ oriented projects that will have direct impact in the lives of the Ekiti Ketes.

While thanking the leadership of his party, ADP across the country, Adewale assured his numerous supporters in ADP and Ekiti State that he will not back down in his quest to govern the state as 2022 will present another opportunity for him to make himself available to lead the state.

He concluded by saying that a review of the last Saturday’s election will properly guide his next campaign, stating that his team would rethink, re-strategize, and replan for effecting outing in the nearest future electoral outing in Ekiti State.
