Emeka Igwe Formally Declares To Run For State House Assembly

In a move that finally puts all speculations to rest and in answering the call to serve the good people of Awka South, Ogbuefi Nnanyelugo, Chief Emeka Igwe formally declared his intention and readiness to represent his constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly.

With a mammoth crowd that greeted his arrival at the country home of the Transition Chairman of Awka South Local Government – Barr. Udoba, Chief Emeka Igwe, a philanthropist per excellence, said it was in the spirit of Nke a bu nka anyi and in bringing something new that he was propelled to want to serve his people.

Mr. Ikechukwu Ananeh, who is the ward chairman of Ogbuefi Nnanyelugo in Amikwo ward 6, said he and other wards chairmen that made up Constituency A considered him as a big Iroko who had done well for the people, thereby earning their support. The ward chairman, Mr. Ikechukwu maintained that the era of imposition was gone and that intended aspirants ought to go to the party and identify with the grassroots just as Chief Emeka Igwe has been seen doing.

Receiving Chief Igwe and his entourage, the highly elated Mayor of Awka South, Barr. Udoba, thanked him for taking the bold step and for presenting himself first to Awka South APGA Working Committee, which showed that he had respect for the party and what it stood for.

On his competency and candidature, Barr. Udoba said,“People of your pedigree should contest for election”. 

“We know you are also capable of going for the federal house but you chose to start from here”.

While on the issue of equity and fairness, the LG Chairman affirmed, “I am promising you on behalf of the Working Committee that the process will be open” . 

“Nobody will antagonize you in the journey, apart from the fact that you are running, you are also promoting the party”, he enthused.

Chief Emeka Igwe, a successful technocrat, said he’s running because he wanted to make a difference and create an ambiance where everyone will get involved, be carried along and where leadership will work.

“APGA is now the beautiful bride. Everyone who is aspiring to lead in any capacity under this great party must ensure he/she does so effectively because the party is known for quality leadership as exemplified by Gov. Willie Obiano” he emphasized.

Chief Emeka Igwe said that he will continue to consult widely and interact more with his people at the grassroots as he unfolds the plans he has for his constituency.

From indication on ground, the people of Awka South (Constituency A) are ready to deliver the constituency to him as opinion molders, women and youth leaders, party faithfuls, friends and well wishers who were present at the event all vowed to drum support for his candidature.
