Notable Igbo traditional leader, Eze (Dr) Chika Nwokedi, has reiterated his continued support for Nigerian Police officers during his courtesy visit to a retired Commissioner of Police, CP Augustines Akika and the Ejigbo Divisional Police Officer, CSP Omisore Abiodun.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Eze Nwokedi, also known as Okpoko one of Oboodo Ukwu town in Imo State, paid the courtesy visit, accompanied with his wife Ugoeze Tessy Nwokedi, palace members and few Executives of Ndi Igbo Buru Otu Association of Nigeria.

He described the officers of the Nigeria  Police as “our friends” and presented some gifts in appreciation of their service to humanity.

Eze Nwokedi explained that his visit was personal and not affiliated with any organisation, stating that the courtesy visit has become a tradition and he does so thrice every  year through personal funding in the last 20 years to appreciate the good works of the Nigerian Police whether retired or serving once he identifies the Officer as hardworking.

Nwokedi commended the DPO of Ejigbo  Division, CSP Omisore Abiodun, for his efforts and professionalism, which he has observed over the years and advised him to continue with his good works. He  also advised him to approach sensitive cases fairly, and to continue his duties on the diligent path.

Abiodun expressed heartfelt appreciation to Eze Okpoko for the visit, describing his relationship with the Nigerian Police as exemplary and worthy of emulation. He encouraged Eze Okpoko to continue fostering this positive dynamic, urging him to keep up the good work in promoting mutual respect and cooperation between the community and law enforcement agencies.

Eze Nwokedi then proceeded to the home of CP Austin Akika (Rtd), where he presented some gifts items and described Akika as a “good man” and a “family friend”. He pledged to continue supporting him even in retirement.

In response, CP Akika expressed profound gratitude to Eze Okpoko and his cabinet for their visit, commending them for their unwavering support for security personnel.

He urged Eze Okpoko to continue demonstrating this same tenacity and commitment in promoting solidarity with law enforcement agencies. Akika also shared a personal note, stating that as an Edo man, he has long embraced and identified with the Igbo culture and pledged to maintain this bond in the spirit of unity and cooperation.

This gesture again highlights the strong bond between the Igbo community and law enforcement agencies. Igbo leaders have previously pledged to support the Nigerian Police Force in fighting crimes through community policing. They have also assured the Police of their commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence and local security.

Eze Nwokedi stated that the visit will continue across the Divisions to support and encourage the good officers to continue with their good works.
