We’re Focused On A ‘Cleaner Ikeja’ – Engr Balogun

In line with the vision of a ‘Cleaner Lagos’ as posited by Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Engr. Mojeed Balogun has done a lot of work to make Ikeja clean and flood free.

The Executive Chairman and his team hit the ground running with the drive to clean up the environment. Since he resumed work at the Council headquarters, he has carried out a lot of environmental sanitation exercises with the collaboration of the Community Development Associations under Ikeja LGA and has received commendations for being actively involved all through.

In order to ensure that Ikeja becomes flood free especially after heavy downpours, Engr. Balogun has mobilised the management team of the Council and the environmental team to different locations in and around Ikeja. He has so far picked out three days in every week to be part of the sanitation exercise.

On each of those three days in a week, he has worked from 10pm to 4am to ensure that the exercise was properly done. The exercise was specifically done in the nights to avoid human and vehicular movement disrupting the work. The Executive Chairman quipped that his administration is focused on a cleaner Ikeja.

With the cooperation of the CDAs, he has desilted the deep drainage located along Oduyemi Street by Afisman Drive and it has aided free flow of water from that axis. He equally did a drainage upgrade at the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Primary Health Centre located at Oritshe Street. Same has been extended to other areas of Ikeja.

When P.M.EXPRESS spoke to the CDC chairman, Alhaji Sulukaleen Osinberu, he commended the effort of the Council boss. He said if the sanitation exercise is sustained that in no time Ikeja will be cleaner and flood free. Other residents expressed their joy at seeing the Council boss personally being part of the exercise.
