Igbo People Dump Nnamdi Kanu, As IPOB Leader Goes Into Hiding

The Nigerian Military’s declaration of IPOB as a terrorist group and the banning of their activities by the South East  governors may have opened the eyes of the Igbo people where Nnamdi Kanu and his group were leading them.

Thus, the Igbo and its leaders seemed to have dumped Kanu and his group to their fate as the military declared Kanu and his group wanted for terrorism activities in Nigeria.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the master stroke that jolted the group was the invasion of Kanu’s home by soldiers and the simultaneous statements by the Federal government led military and the southeast governors against the group.

One of the members told our correspondent that another setback was IPOB’s failure to secure the sympathy of the international community on the false alarm of genocide against their members which was debunked and described as lie in the British House of Parliament in United Kingdom.

The source said when the IPOB leaders discovered that the military action was not yielding the desired sympathy and the Igbo leaders were not supporting them, they were forced to go into hiding for their safety.

Sources said some of the leaders were now considering leaving the country on exile as their lives were no longer safe following the declaration that they were terrorists in Nigeria.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Kanu and his group started losing sympathy within Igbo land when he started abusing both the Igbo leaders and other ethnic group leaders in Nigeria.
It was gathered that at the recent meeting Kanu had with the South East governors, Kanu insulted them and boasted that he was more popular than the governors put together.

The source who did not want his name mentioned, said some of the notable Igbo leaders had received insults from Kanu and his group to the extent the group even threatened some of them not to come back to Igboland.
While some people commended the southeast governors for  proscribing the group, some condemned the action but majority commended the decision of the military and the governors.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, urged the Federal Government and citizens to treat the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB),
Nnamdi Kanu as an individual whose views do not represent those  of the generality of Igbo people.

No reasonable Igbo man, the governor said would support secession or division of the country. Okorocha who spoke at the Imo State New Yam festival organised by the State Council of Traditional Rulers said that “everyone that loves Ndigbo has condemned the activities of IPOB.”

A catholic priest, Rev Father Mbaka was against the style of the group and warned that IPOB wanted to cause war in Igbo land and the youths were being killed where as Kanu and other elites kept their own families abroad.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Kanu may flee Nigeria but the major problem now is the fate of those who stood as sureties for him in the court as they may be arrested if he jumps bail.
