CHRISTIAN ABURIME
Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, today led the faithful in a solemn Palm Sunday procession at the Light House Chaplaincy in the Government House, Awka.
The mass, presided over by the Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Raphael Onyekwelu, also had in attendance the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim and some top government officials.
The ceremony began with the traditional blessing of palm fronds, symbolizing the “triumphant entry” of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
In his remarks during the service, Governor Soludo emphasized the spiritual significance of the day, describing it as a “powerful start” to Passion Sunday.
The Governor, who recently began his second term in office, noted that the themes of humility and service exemplified by the life of Christ are essential for the progress of Anambra State.
“Palm Sunday reminds us that leadership is a call to selfless service and sacrifice. As we enter this Holy Week, we remain committed to building a liveable and prosperous homeland under the guidance of the Almighty.”
In a homily, Rev. Fr. Onyekwelu urged the congregation to emulate the humility of Christ, reminding leaders and citizens alike of the importance of integrity and peace.
Governor Soludo later joined the congregants in a symbolic walk, waving palm fronds.
