Students from Green House at GWAT Private Schools, Abule- Odu, Egbeda, Lagos went into jubilation after the House emerged overall winner at the just concluded 4th Biennial Inter House Sports Competition which was held at Police Children School, Pipe Line, Isheri, Alimosho, Lagos.
The Green House leave nothing to chancy gave their best to ensure that they emerged champions in this year’s edition.
In the results released by officials, Green House won 555 medals. Red House garnered 477 medals to place second position, while Yellow House came third with 476 medals, as Blue House had 472 medals to win the fourth position.
Reacting to the victory, Green House captain, Towoju Olawunmi expressed gratitude to God for the feat. She said Green House came first because of the commitment of the students in the House. She said the victory was well deserved because no House had prepared hard more than them in the last few weeks of the preparation.
“It was a deserved victory and I thank God that my effort and others in the House were rewarded. It was not easy when we started but today we were crowned champions which mean our effort was not in vain.
Proprietor of the school, Winfred Tartey expressed gratitude to God for the success of the competition. He described this year’s edition as better than the previous edition and urged the all the participating Houses to take their positions in good faith.
“There is no loser and no winner. All the Houses are good because they prepared well for the competition. I can only congratulate the Green Household for their historic feat. I am happy that sports is growing in GWAT Schools. It means that we are not only focusing on academic alone, we take sports seriously so that our students can excel both in academic and sports after leaving school,” he said.
