Hon. Pharm. Emeneka Flags Off Construction Of Eke Edo Market

The Member Representing Anambra East Constituency in the State House of Assembly Hon. Obinna Emeneka on Saturday flagged off the construction of Eke Edo market stalls in Igbariam, Anambra East Local Government Area amidst jubilation by the people of the community.

Flagging of the construction of the market, Hon. Emeneka said that what he was doing was in line with Governor Willie Obiano’s “community choose your project initiative”, that allows communities to choose any project that they needed government to do for them.

The lawmaker noted that as part of his tireless effort to entrench participatory democracy as well as deliver dividends of democracy to his constituents, he asked the community to mention any project of their choice that they wanted him to do for them, and the leadership of the community under the aegis of Igbariam Progress Union, met and informed him that their most pressing need was the construction of the aforementioned market.

The lawmaker further revealed that his projects cuts across all the communities in his constituency, which he said were verifiable and made it clear that the contractor handling the project was an indigene of the community.

The Vice President, Igbariam Progress Union, Hon. Marcel Ifejirika on behalf of the President General of the community paid glowing tribute to the lawmaker for his humane disposition towards the community and assured him that the community was solidly behind him, even as he prayed God to bless him and his family.

In a remark, a veteran retired journalist in the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, from the community, Chief Emeka Odikpo described Hon. Emeneka as a quintessential leader that had the interest of his people at heart. Chief Odikpo pointed out that the community had earlier made contributions to construct the market but to no avail and eulogized the lawmaker for bringing succour to them.
