Imo is currently having a Governor who does not believe so much in blowing his trumpet in front of cameras nor tweet his achievements or pose for glossy profiles. Yet signpost of his achievements and his quiet acts of generosity continue to manifest at every corner of the state and nation.
He is called ‘Onwa’, a shining moon, a name derived from his force of attracting developments to his native Omuma and his Clan Oru before holding public office. He built his empire from his youthful ages in the 1990s trudging through Oil and Gas, Maritime, corporate business and politics.
He has built roads, hospital, bank, market, church, given scholarships, attracted LGA headquarters to his people before now.
In politics, he toppled giants by exhibiting uncommon intellectual profundity untill he made it to his present level. In leadership particularly as Governor, he has shut every mouths that hitherto spewed doubt about his capacity, converted such mouths to praising gongs.
The man’s genius is practical, almost like a mystic but indeed divinely gifted. Strategy, commitment, and foresightedness are his instinct, focus on result his habit. Those who come close to him or work with him speak of his unique character of industry, meticulous mind, well measured to details, and unrelenting commitment that runs like an orchestra
As Governor of Imo state, Uzodimma has today redefined governance from one that focuses on self or little community spirit to an ambitious strides. His ability to think beyond the surface and embark on projects that look impossible at their conception are very intriguing about his personality and leadership traits.
Governor Uzodimma has taken the route uncommon with typical politicians. He flags off major roads, built and renovated hospitals, schools, empower several thousands of Youths in digital innovation and many more without press releases and without the usual political noise. Maybe, unknown to many, no state today out of the entire South East, has the length of electricity solar lights like Imo state, courtesy of aggressive light up Imo project by the Governor.
The Orashi electricity project that is set to come on stream starting with Owerri Capital City by this November ending or first week of December, the total turnaround of Concorde Hinton hotel, the dredging of Orashi River up to the Atlantic Ocean (that its Geographic survey is ready) are some of the landmark project initiatives that will cut the umbilical cord of Imo development and human capital empowerment.
Again , I make bold to say that no state Governor known in history in South East has done as much roads network as Uzodimma has done since he became Governor. The dept of his vision, the size of his thoughts and the kind of ambitious projects he undertakes stand him out from the crowd of leaders in this country.
Achievements as Governor for him, should not be excessively politicized. He sees achievements as part of his call to duty, a kind of divine covenant, a social contract or as a responsibility with the people of the state.
He has introduced quality in project execution in the state. He has brought sanity in land administration and payroll system that has ensured seamless payment system in the state. There is almost zero incident of strikes by state branch of various unions because of his administrative ingenuity.
Uzodimma is among those great leaders who see wealth, power and leadership position as a tool to work for the people not as a trophy. Indeed, Gov Uzodimma has achieved a lot without beating his drums but leaving the impacts felt by the people. The scoreboard is loaded and the results speak louder than sounds.
