Housewife Slits Husband’s Throat 9 Days After Arranged Marriage

Police operatives from the Kano State Command have arrested an 18-year old housewife, Saudat Jibrin, for allegedly using a knife to slit the throat of her 30-year old husband, Salisu Idris and he bled to death nine days after their arranged marriage.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the tragic incident took place in Farawa community in Kano on Monday night, days after the couple’s wedding held on Sunday, 27th April, 2025.
According to Police sources, the marriage was arranged by relatives of the couple but lacked mutual affection between both parties, which affected the marriage few days after the wedding.
The deceased had initially expressed reservations about the union but he was reportedly persuaded by family members to go ahead with the marriage.
The Police were yet to disclose the cause of the the quarrel. However,  members of community suspected that Saudat may have poisoned her husband before stabbing him during an argument.
The ugly incident attracted the attention of the youths in the community, who attempted to lynch the suspect but prompt intervention by security operatives prevented mob action as the suspect was taken into custody.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, who disclosed that the suspect was in custody undergoing interrogation over her alleged conduct.
He stated, “The Kano State Police Command announced  has apprehended one Saudat Jibril, an 18-year-old female resident of Farawa Quarters, for allegedly cutting the throat of her husband, Salisu Idris. The suspect allegedly cut the throat of her husband, Salisu Idris, a 30-year-old male, with a sharp knife.”
“Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police in the State, Ibrahim Bakori, swiftly deployed a team of detectives to the scene. The victim was rushed to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his death.”
“The suspect is currently being held at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section, and will face charges for culpable homicide.
“The CP warned that the Command will not tolerate any form of violence or criminality in the state.”
The spokesperson assured the public of their commitment to conducting thorough investigations to ensure that justice was served.
The suspect may likely be charged for murder under the Criminal Laws of the State, which attracts life imprisonment.
