The land battle between Abba and Ukpo communities in Anambra State may have taken another dimension following the arrest of the Abba-born billionaire and CEO, Best Aluminum, Chief Pius Nweke over being in possession of a gun.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the CEO of Best Aluminum Manufacturing Company in Onitsha, Chief Nweke, was arrested by the Special Tactical Section, the Inspector General of Police team for being in possession of an unlicensed gun and immediately flown to Abuja for the alleged offence with the gun as exhibit.
The incident happened at a time Chief Nweke’s community, Abba, alleged that Chief Nweke was over the land tussle between his community, Abba and neighbouring town, Ukpo where another billionaire, Chief Authur Eze, hails from.
The arrest of Chief Nweke triggered suspicion by his community, who claimed that he was framed up over the land tussle between their community and Ukpo.Engr. C. Anaenwe, the President General of Chief Nweke’s Community, Abba, described Chief Nweke’s arrest by the Police as a frame up despite the facts that the Police recovered exhibit from him.
However, Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP John Haruna confirmed Chief Nweke’s arrest. He said that Chief Nweke was arrested by STS Policemen attached to the Inspector General of Police.
CP John said: “Policemen of the IGP’s STS while on routine patrol at Awada area saw and intercepted a Lexus SUV, which its number plate was covered and then searched the car and the occupant. In the process, they found a Barreta pistol with 10 rounds of ammunition in it. The fellow, who was in the car, who owns the pistol is one Mr Pius Nweke, male, from Anambra State”.
“He has been taken into custody for further interrogation at Onitsha there with STS. He will be taken to Abuja because the STS headquarters is in Abuja. So, definitely he will be moved to Abuja for further necessary actions and interrogations.”
