When the sociocultural organization known as Igbo Buru Otu was formed on 7th April, 2016, in Lagos by the founder and President of the group, Chief Chika C. Nwokedi, he knew what the members wanted to achieve which was to impart the lives of the people including non-members.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that apart from imparting the lives of the less privileged in the society not minding tribe and religion, the organization has made virtually every member a landlord through their scheme known as ‘You Must Own Your House’ by force.
Thanks to the vision of Chief Nwokedi and his executive members, who came up with the vision to uplift their members through so many policies that benefit members directly.
Speaking on the two years in office, Nwokedi said the group works as a team, passionate about the welfare of its members and usually assisting by giving out loans, free healthcare as well as paying members who have attained mandatory retirement age.
No wonder many people are trooping to join the group daily which has made the group to increase the membership registration fee to N150,000 and strict restriction to membership. Nwokedi said the increase was deliberate and they do not admit every person; any intending member usually goes through a screening process before such person will be admitted as a member.
The General Secretary of the group, Comrade Ifeanyi Igwebe, said that Igbo Buru Otu was initially formed to protect members who are victims of intimidation, harassment especially business men and traders. He explained that the group had gone beyond that by assisting members in their businesses and procuring land for members.
He further said that they have been assisting the Nigeria Police over the years by providing equipment because the group believes that the Government cannot do it alone in providing all they would need in providing security to Nigerians. He also explained that the group recognizes and gives award to both Police officers and Nigerians, who have done well and contributed to the development of the society.
The legal adviser of the group, Barr. Mary Joy Okasi, explained that Igbo Buru Otu are responsible people, who abide by the laws of the State and that was why they factored in a legal department to guide members in business transaction and other activities over the years. She said that the organization has many departments such as NGO and Pastors Forum, who cater for the material and spiritual needs of the members.
Chief Nwokedi sees the group spreading across the states of the federation and beyond in the next five years. However, he said they were taking some steps to ensure that those branches abide with the vision of the group and not to be used outside the mandate.
