A 28-year old man, Victor Nnamdi Ekeh, has allegedly stabbed his biological father, Obioma Eke, over his father’s inability to keep enough property he would inherit if the father dies in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Oloruntobi Street, Samadint Bus Stop in Isheri Oshun area of Lagos, where they reside.
According to their neighours, Victor realized that he would not inherit much from the father after death, which made him angry. It degenerated to hatred for his father, which made them always quarrel openly in the neighborhood.
On the day the incident happened, Victor was said to be smoking publicly when the father attempted to correct him. Immediately, he got angry and started beating his father. He then went, carried a kitchen knife and stabbed him.
The father was said to have been rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment while the matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division. He was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation.
During investigation, he did not show any remorse and the Police having found him culpable, charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for conduct likely to bring breach of public peace and assault.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. E.O. Ogunkanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum while ordering his remand in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 7th February, 2022, for mention.
The father of the defendant stated he has refused to show any remorse over his conduct even at the station and the son was angry with him because he does not have enough property he will inherit at his demise.
