Police detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, Lagos, have arrested a notorious criminal, Agbomeji Jimoh, popular known as Small Doctor, for allegedly killing his friend and secretly throwing his corpse inside the river.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at New Market in Idaso town, Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos, where they reside.
The 33-year old “Small Doctor” was alleged to have conspired, attacked and beaten a 25-year old, Michael Edache, over an undisclosed matter and he eventually died in the process due to injuries he sustained.
Having realised that he had murdered him, he threw the corpse the inside river and left not knowing that some people around knew what happened and reported to the Police in the area. He was then arrested by Police detectives and transferred to the SCID, Yaba, for interrogation.
During interrogation, he reportedly admitted to have committed the alleged offence and to cover up, he threw the corpse inside the river not knowing some people knew what happened.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged before the Yaba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and murder, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment if found guilty.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Mr. Godwin Oriabure, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the alleged offence was a capital offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Salawu, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre pending the outcome of DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned pending when the DPP’s report will be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
