How Police Arrested Fleeing Married Woman After Lover Died In Abuja Hotel

The Police in Federal Capital Territory have arrested a woman, Mrs Rukayat Muhammed, who allegedly absconded after her companion died in a hotel in Abuja.

The police also arrested two men, Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, who allegedly dumped the lifeless body of the man under Katampe bridge, Abuja, in August 2026.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Abuja, Ahmed Sanusi, at a press conference on Saturday, September 26.

According to the CP, Rukayat, a married woman, was allegedly in a relationship with the deceased and saved his name as “Safiyat” on her phone.

On or about August 27, 2026, the pair checked into Good Samaritan Hotel, Second Avenue, Gwarimpa, Abuja. While in the room, Rukayat discovered that her male companion had died.

Rather than inform the hotel staff, she allegedly picked the man’s phone and left the hotel.

After waiting for the pair to check out, two hotel staff went to their room and repeated knocking did not yield any results. The door was forced open and they discovered the body.

Instead of reporting to the police, Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus allegedly removed the body and transported it to the Katampe Bridge area along the Kubwa Expressway and dumped it there.

The Police first got wind of the incident when the family of the deceased reported him missing.

The CP said, “In the course of the investigation, we discovered that the deceased’s mobile phone was missing. This became a significant lead in the investigation, and our operatives commenced efforts to track the device and establish its last known location and usage.”

He added, “Although the phone had been switched off, investigators traced the deceased’s last known communication to Mrs Rukayat Muhammed of Garki Area 2.”

Investigations also revealed that Muhammed was allegedly in a relationship with the deceased.

Upon arrest, she confessed to what happened and led detectives to the hotel, which led to the arrest of the two hotel staff.

The Commissioner said the exact cause and circumstances of the deceased’s death are still under investigation, and other investigative processes are being pursued to determine the full facts of the case.

He added that the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
