AISHA ABUBAKAR
A woman, Torkwase Queen Ayakpa, has landed in trouble after she allegedly arranged a kidnap scam in order to obtain N20,000 ransom from her sister in Abuja where they reside.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Ayakpa was arrested and paraded on Wednesday by the Abuja Command of the Nigeria Police Force, for planning her own kidnap with the aim of extorting the ransom from her sister.
She was paraded alongside other suspects by the Police Command on Wednesday and she confessed to have worked with another suspect, Fidelis Ikule (also arrested), to execute her criminal plan.
She claimed she worked as hair stylist before she was arrested. Trouble however, started after she requested for an undisclosed amount of money from her sister who turned down the request.
According to her, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic affected her business negatively and this made her desperate for money, while also claiming that she set up her own kidnap to test if her sister really loved her.
On how she executed her plans, the suspect left home on the 20th July,2020, to Fidelis Ikule’s house in a village. She then placed a call to her sister, claiming she had been kidnapped.
The Police however, apprehended them after Police operatives traced the audio calls to a house in Mashafa Village, Mpape in Abuja where the suspects were making the ransom requests.
Police sources said the suspects will be charged before the Court after the conclusion of investigation.
