Tributes have continued to pour in for the family of the Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman of the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos State, High Chief Dr Jonathan Nnaji, following the passing of his beloved elder sister, Mrs Nkechi Mary Cletus Oforbuisi, popularly known as Eziafa Ka Ego.
PMEXPRESS reports that Mrs Oforbuisi, who was a pillar of support to the Nnaji family, passed on after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and motherly love that touched many lives in her community. Late Mrs Nkechi Mary Cletus Oforbuisi, fondly called Eziafa Ka Ego by admirers and loved ones, was described as a woman of virtue, whose life epitomized hard work, humility, and selfless service to humanity.
Until her death, she was known for her unwavering commitment to family values, her deep faith in God, and her passion for uplifting others, especially women and youths in her community. Friends and family members who spoke to PMEXPRESS described her as a loving mother, a caring sister, and a devout Christian who lived a fulfilled life dedicated to the service of God and humanity.
She was happily married to her late loving husband and the marriage was blessed with wonderful children and grandchildren who will greatly miss her motherly care and guidance. She was a devoted wife who stood by her late husband through thick and thin and built a happy home that became a reference point for many. Her children described her as a disciplinarian with a heart of gold who taught them the values of honesty, hard work, and respect for all. Her grandchildren will miss her sweet stories, warm hugs, and motherly prayers.
She was a woman who believed in the power of giving and was always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need. Her nickname “Eziafa Ka Ego” which translates to “Good name is better than wealth” truly reflected her personality and philosophy of life. Her demise has left a vacuum not only in the Nnaji family but also in the larger community where she was highly respected and loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and many relatives including the Nnaji family and Oforbuisi family who have been left to mourn her painful exit.
The Nnaji family, in a burial announcement signed by High Chief Jonathan Nnaji and Dr Emmanuel Nnaji, has announced arrangements to give their beloved sister a befitting farewell. This will be followed by another wake-keep on Wednesday, 12th November 2026, at Umuakum Village, Amurri, Enugu State. The final burial ceremony will take place on Thursday, 13th November 2026, at her home town.
