The Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos State has approved the inauguration of new executive members.

Dr. Jonathan Nnaji, the Chairman of the BOT, announced that the documentation process for the factional Ezendigbo group, established by President-elect Chief Sunday Udeh, will be completed before the scheduled date.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that after the board meeting, Dr. Nnaji briefed Chief Udeh on the outcome and stated that he is working closely with him to ensure a smooth transition before the inauguration.

Dr. Nnaji is hopeful that the renewed relationship between Chief Udeh and the BOT will lead to a stronger community. The inauguration is scheduled for Sunday, 14th September, 2025, at the Sickle Cell Foundation Multi-purpose Hall in Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi Araba, Lagos.

This was confirmed by Dr. Nnaji, who stated that the inauguration will bring peace to the community after the documentation process of the factional Ezendigbo created by Chief Udeh is completed for united Council of Ezendigbo in line with the constitution of Igbo Speaking community.

The BOT approved the inauguration date after harmonizing state executives, following the Lagos State High Court judgment that declared Chief Sunday Udeh as President-elect. Dr. Nnaji noted that the factions led by Chief Udeh and Chief Sunday Eze have been reconciled, with the final step being the integration of the factional Council of Ezendigbo.

A recognized Council of Ezendigbo, led by Eze Agbowodikeizu Nwalozie, has existed since 2003. The successful inauguration of the new executives will be a significant achievement for the BOT’s peace efforts, following a prolonged dispute between the two factional groups.

The peace initiative, led by the BOT, resulted in a consent judgment, and this development may mark a new beginning for the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos. Dr. Nnaji emphasized that the BOT’s efforts, along with those of other stakeholders, have restored peace to the community, with the harmonization of the factional Ezendigbo group being the final step.
