The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Monday officially presented the Back to School Program 1.0, an unprecedented initiative in the history of Ikeja Local Government aimed at providing massive educational support for pupils across schools within the community.

The landmark event commenced with a Welcome Address delivered by the Council Manager, who led all the management staff of Ikeja Local Government. The Council Manager described the program as a bold, people-centered initiative and reaffirmed the commitment of the LG workforce to supporting the Council Chairman’s transformative agenda.

In his address, Comrade Dauda highlighted that education remains the foundation for building future leaders and reiterated his administration’s priority in investing in the academic growth of Ikeja’s children. To ensure transparency, he disclosed that special distribution committees were set up for each school. Each committee is headed by the councillor of the ward where the school is domiciled and includes representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the League of Imams, youth, and the Community Development Associations (CDAs).

Representing the Lagos State Education District at the event, Mrs. Ayo-Vaughan Adeola from Education District VI, commended the Council Chairman, Comrade Dauda, for his thoughtfulness, kindness, and foresight. She eulogised the program as a massive and impactful intervention that will go a long way in reducing the burden on parents while motivating pupils to strive harder in their academics.

In a heartwarming moment, pupils came forward to thank the Ikeja Council Chairman for the laudable initiative. They prayed to God to keep him in good health, grant him more wisdom, and bless him in all ramifications.

The event witnessed the presence of all six councillors of Ikeja Local Government, led by the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Rasheed Adisa Ogunseye, who pledged legislative support for more people-oriented projects.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by the Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Abisola Omisore, who expressed deep gratitude to all dignitaries, committee members, and community representatives for their participation and support in ensuring the success of the program.

The Back to School Program 1.0 stands as another bold testament to Chairman AKOD’s vision of empowering the younger generation, promoting inclusive governance, and laying a solid foundation for the future of Ikeja.
