The construction of three bedroom bungalow for an indigent widow in Agulu by Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) has been received with jubilation and appreciation by the people of the community.

The project is part of Senator Uche Ekwunife’s facilitated building projects for some less privileged people across the seven (7) Local Governments of the Senatorial District.

The committee, led by the former commissioner for women affairs Anambra State, Lady Henrietta Agbata, were received in the community by the President General, Chief Andy Orakwelu, the Vice Chairman of Umuifite Village, Chief Sylvanus Nwankwo, Agulu Community Woman Leader, Mrs Chinyere Okafor and other community leaders.

The event also had in attendance the Chairman of Senator Uche Ekwunife Campaign Organization, Ichie Sir Edwin Ubboh, the Legislative Assistant to the Senator, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Chinwuko, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and others.

Welcoming the project committee, the President General of Agulu, Chief Andy Orakwelu, expressed gratitude to the Senator for making the project a reality. He stated that the indigent widow selected for the project became the beneficiary based on the fact that she had no decent shelter since she lost her husband and son.

Chief Orakwelu praised the Senator for her many developmental projects in the community and other communities under her jurisdiction. He assured her of the continuous support of Agulu people and prayed God to bless her immensely.

The beneficiary of the building project, Mrs. Mercy Emeonye, who was full of appreciation over the Senator’s magnanimity described the building project as unexpected. Expressing her excitement, the indigent widow stated that the news of her becoming the owner of the 3-bedroom bungalow has brought immeasurable joy to her and that of her family. She specifically thanked Senator Ekwunife, whom she described as OJI UNO EME-OGO, for remembering a poor widow like her and asked God to grant her success in all her endeavours.

Recall that the committee had previously visited similar building projects in some other communities in the Senatorial District. Apart from housing projects, other projects and programmes such as, road construction projects, school building projects, solar street light projects, capacity building programmes and others are going on in different communities in the constituency.

Many more projects are equally lined up for flag off in the coming weeks. Indeed Anambra Central Senatorial District is blessed to have Ekwunife as their Senator.
