You see education? It is an essential service that must be treated as one. When people recommend Doctors for hospital services they make sure such persons are trained, qualified and updated.
Why then do we not ensure same level of circumspection when recommending Teachers for public schools? Probably because these substandard Teachers, quack and ill equipped would not be teaching our biological children, who are cabined in various choice private schools?
A serious recruitment is going on to employ Teachers for State Schools, and you find one “stakeholder” calling those in charge to help them “kpafa nye” one dunce in one school. And Soludo would ask, “would you be proud to allow this same person you are recommending to teach your biological child?”
Until we raise the stakes for education, we may never enjoy the full benefit of a “better tomorrow”. Already, there is a growing crop of young people, who have started muttering that “school is scam”. And like I projected during the EndSARS protest, we may very soon have a movement of Teenagers currently being housed and trained in different HKs in our cities and villages by their YahooBoy Mentors leading a protest to “EndSchool”.
Can we smell the coffee, like yesterday?
