Ladipo Market Traders Laud Gov Ambode Over Roads

The Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode may have won back the hearts of the traders at Ladipo Market over the massive  construction of various roads leading to the market in Mushin, Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the traders were full of praises for Ambode and said that they never thought that he will ever embark on such  constructions in the area following what happened during the last election.

Some of the traders confessed that they voted against the governor during the last election that brought him to power and never expected to gain anything from him. But the latest developments had made them to change their minds, and they said that if the ruling party returns him, they will all vote for him because of his great works.

P.M.EXPRESS visited Ladipo Market and discovered that there were really massive road constructions going on there. Some had been completed while others were still under construction, and workers were busy there.

Some of the roads visited within the area were Ladipo Market, Alhaji Amusa, Olateju, Akinwumi streets among others.

Some of the traders who spoke to P.M.EXPRESS narrated their bad experience on the roads for over 15 years which they described as abandoned roads.

One of the traders, Kenechukwu Amadi explained that most to the goods sold in Ladipo Market were imported and brought to the market by containers. He said that the importers at some point stopped bringing their goods because of what they had suffered and huge loss they had incurred; because some containers usually fell on those roads and their goods destroyed.

Amadi said that as a result some importers had refused to offload their goods at the market and preferred to go elsewhere to avoid facing such kind of challenge.

Another trader, Martin Akubueze said that customers shunned the market because of bad roads and preferred to patronize other traders on the streets despite the fact that goods were sold cheaper at Ladipo Market.

He said that during the rainy season, the market will almost shut down because most customers will not dare come to the market during that period.

“But it seems all those bad experiences  will soon be things of the past because the governor was constructing the roads to a solid standard” Akubueze said.

It was the same good story within the market axis on the governor’s efforts to rebuild Ladipo Market roads. However, the traders appealed to the governor to hasten the pace of work so that it will not extend into the rainy season which may delay their completion.
