A 34-year old lady, Afusat Akanbi, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly engaging her rival, Omowunmi Omoshola, in a public brawl and biting off her nose.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Baale Street, Ajegunle area of Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police,  the suspect and the complainant were known rival neighbours in the area to the extent that other neighbours had tried to resolve the matter between them to no avail.
On the day the incident happened, the duo had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter, which led to exchange of hot words and in the process,  Afusat allegedly held Omowunmi’s head and bit off part of her nose.
She was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where she was treated while the matter was reported to the Police in the area before the case was transferred to the SCID at Yaba for further investigation.
After rounds of interrogation,  the Police found Afusat culpable and subsequently charged her before the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However, she pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Williams, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since the defendant pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.O. Akingbesote, granted her bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
