A 21-year old lady, Sidikat Farajoeye, has been arrested for allegedly boiling and pouring hot water on her female rival, Oluwatoyin Ahmed, during squabble in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ologodudu Street, Mowo area of Ojo, Lagos State, where they reside.
The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she was said to be lying critically due to the injury she sustained during the attack, which inflicted permanent injury on her body.
The cause of their lingering quarrel in the compound was not disclosed, which their neighbours claimed to had tried in vain to resolve.
Police sources stated that on the day of the incident, the suspect, Sidikat was said to have had a disagreement with the victim, Oluwatoyin, over an undisclosed matter. She then went and boiled water, which she poured on the victim’s body and inflicted serious injury on her.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and she was arrested. Having been found culpable after interrogation, she was subsequently charged before the Ojo Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
When she was arraigned, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector E. Adesulu, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. D.S. Oduleoya, granted her bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood.
The matter was adjourned till 5th August, 2022, for mention while the defendant was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
She risks several years of imprisonment if she is tried and found guilty before the Court for the alleged offence.
