LUCKY LAWAL

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi, following the incessant reports of serious crimes perpetuated by hoodlums in Ejigbo Community has directed FSARS operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, to immediately take over the abandoned and nonfunctional Imakiyo Police Post as their operational base.

The directives came shortly after the recent raids of black spots and demolition of shanties successfully carried out by the police detectives attached to Ejigbo Police Station which was led by the DPO of Ejigbo
Police Division, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, who on assumption of office vowed to make life miserable for criminals and dangerous cultists in the area.

CP Edgal Imohimi as at press time gave kudos to men and officers of Ejigbo Police Division for their prompt response to the information provided by members of the public about the activities of hoodlums in Ejigbo area. The police boss urged FSARS operatives posted to the area to abide by the rules of the police act and respect the fundamental human rights of every citizen in the course of discharging their duties.

The Lagos CP however frowned at the ugly mode of arrest of suspect by his men, advising them to go all out for dangerous criminals and notorious thugs and cultist whose stock in trade was to cause mayhem and destroy lives and properties of innocent people doing genuine business in the community.

“I want you all to go after dangerous armed robbers and suspected criminals who have been making life unbearable for residents of the community and any armed criminal found brandishing dangerous weapons in the cause of your discharging national assignment should be retaliated with strong resistance” Edgal said.

P.M.EXPRESS correspondent who monitored the recent successful raids of black spots and destruction of shanties reports that the popular criminal den and land of ‘Sodom and Gomorrah’ (Agbole) in Ejigbo area has becomes a ghost town and criminals have fled to other areas for safety and fear of arrest by the police.

In another development following the last successful raids of criminal hideouts in Ejigbo, about 65 suspected hoodlums, notorious thugs and cultists were arrested and transferred to the Anti-Cultism unit of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, for further investigations and anyone found culpable of the alleged crimes will be prosecuted according to the laws of the land.

Speaking with P.M.EXPRESS, one of the community leaders in the area who wanted to remain anonymous commended the DPO of Ejigbo Police Division, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, and her officers for a job well-done, saying that he never knew that a woman police officer of her status could perform like a man. Praying for God’s guidance and protection for the first lady of Ejigbo Police Division, the community leader said that they can now sleep with their two eyes closed.
