The Police in Lagos State have revealed how a lecturer at Lagos State University of Technology formerly (LASPOTECH), Bidemi Obatuase, allegedly engaged his 10-year old biological daughter in sex romp for five years.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the 53-year old Obatuase reportedly started having unlawful sexual activity with the victim from 2018 when she was six years and continued till 30th December, 2022  when she was 10 before he was eventually exposed.
He has been arrested and charged for defilement, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
The lecturer, Obatuase was arraigned before the Ogba Magistrates Court on two-count charge of defilement and sexual assault by penetration under the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS confirmed that the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) arrested Obatuase following a tipoff from a Mandated Reporter on the allegation that he was having unlawful sexual intercourse with his biological daughter.
The mother of the victim further revealed that her husband stopped being intimate with her in 2018 and her attempt to address it always resulted in him physically assaulting her before the last abuse happened on 30th December, 2022.
When he was brought before the Court, his plea was not taken following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP.
Hence the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi, ordered his remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the Directorate of Public Prosecution ( DPP) legal advice.
The matter was adjourned till 6th March, 2023, for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
The matter may likely be transferred to the High Court for trial if the DPP’s report finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence under Sections 261and 137 of the Criminal Law of the State.
