The Lagos State Government has engaged stakeholders of the Alpha Beach Road dualisation project in a bid to secure their cooperation for all critical aspects of the project, including the delivery of the Right of Way.

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martin, speaking at the stakeholders meeting held at Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa, said that the State Government was embarking on the dualisation of Alpha Beach road to improve traffic flow and assist the socio-economic development of the entire Eti-Osa axis in furtherance of the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda.

The Commissioner, represented a Director in the Ministry, Tpl. Saheed Oladimeji Animashaun, averred that the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration had earned a reputation as a progressive one, paying the deserved attention to infrastructure development for a 21st-Century Lagos, a feat through which he said that the populace was able to assess the Government, based on the delivery of electoral promises across the different sectors.

His words: “Indeed, it is inspiring the way the administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is setting direction for the new year with iconic projects such as the Light Rail Project, the Imota Rice Mill, Dangote Fertilizer Plant and Eleko-Epe Road as well as the dualisation of Alpha Beach Road being yet another that is capable of further articulating the economic potentials of the Lekki axis as the development zone of the State”.

He noted that the stakeholders’ meeting was a precursor to the delivery of the Right of Way (RoW) and other related activities for the successful implementation of the project, disclosing that the government had utilised the national dailies to make available adequate information on the modalities for the establishment of the RoW, part of which is the serving of statutory notices and marking of affected properties by the staff of the Ministry.

He added that an assessment visit would be carried out by the Lands Bureau towards effecting the directive of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the consideration of compensation for affected property owners.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Aramide Adeyoye, who stated that the road was being rehabilitated by the State Government with the support of Zenith Bank, urged residents of the area to cooperate and take ownership of the project as the only way to ensure its durability.

The Permanent Secretary, Office Infrastructure, Engr. Olufemi Daramola, who spoke through a Director in the Ministry of Works, Engr. Tokunbo Ajanaku, gave the project brief that dwelt mainly on the scope and benefits of the project.

An activist, Mr. Rasaq Olokoba and other stakeholders expressed their satisfaction with the development initiatives of the Sanwo-Olu administration, saying that they were happy with the ongoing developments in the Lekki axis and other parts of Lagos.
