Lagos State Govt To Create Sustainable Wealth & Employment Opportunities For Residents

The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to strategically create sustainable wealth and employment opportunities for Lagos Residents in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

The Honourable Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, stated this yesterday while presenting the scorecard of the Ministry at the Y2024 Ministerial Press Briefing to commemorate the first year in office of the second term of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu at Alausa, Ikeja.

He explained that the government will commence the implementation of the strategy document developed by the Ministry which aimed at expanding employment and encouraging meaningful participation in wealth creation activities.

He reiterated the commitment of the Ministry to providing a financial body which would aid access to loans for SMEs and individuals in the context of business expansion and establishment under the umbrella of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) established to tackle unemployment and promote entrepreneurship in the State.
Ajigbotafe averred that the present administration has also reached out to private sectors and individuals for sponsorship or collaboration on various initiatives, programmes and projects of the Ministry.

He declared that it is a recognition of the fact that the government alone cannot create wealth or employment for the teeming population of unemployed youth which was why the Ministry is collaborating with private sector participants like KPMG, First Bank, Wema and Mac Tay Associates on its “Empower Lagos” initiative.

The Commissioner commended the leadership role and unflinching support of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat and all other top officials that are ensuring that the focus of the administration is geared towards achieving a Greater LAGOS vision.

Dignitaries present at the Press Briefing include the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Biodun Onayele; Chairman, House Committee on Wealth Creation, Hon. Mrs. Stella Foluke Osafile,  HC, Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso; PS, Information and Strategy, Mr. Olumide Sogunle and Executive Secretary, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, Mrs. Feyisayo Alayande, among others.
