The chairmanship ambition of an All Progressives’ Congress (APC) aspirant in Yaba Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Mr. Ehi Kayode, has got a boost as major stakeholders in the area have thrown their weight behind his candidature.
Addressing a joint press conference on Thursday, the stakeholders said the APC will do itself a lot of good if it fields Kayode as its standard flagbearer in Yaba during the forthcoming local government election in Lagos State.
They added that Kayode stands out among other aspirants who have shown interest in the ticket in all ramifications.
Spokesperson for the group, Chief Tunde Coker, said Yaba residents had followed Kayode’s track record as a grassroots politician who had made immense contribution to the victory of the party in Yaba in the past elections since its days as Alliance for Democracy (AD).
According to Coker, his group has come to the conclusion that the aspirant is a honest and unblemished politician whose sole aim of vying for the highest office in Yaba LCDA is to establish justice and create an enabling environment for the masses to thrive in the area.
“We urge the leadership of APC in Lagos State and Lagos Mainland in particular, to consider him as their candidate because he towers above all other aspirants in terms of experience, maturity and pedigree,” stated Coker, a veteran journalist.
Also speaking, a woman leader in the area, Mrs. Adeola Adebowale, said she believed Ehi Kayode will give equal representation to women if he eventually becomes the chairman of Yaba LCDA.
“Ehi Kayode has done a lot for women, especially widows and youths of this area in terms of empowerment. This is the kind of a person we want at the helm of affairs in the council, so he can do much more for the people,” she said.
