A 50-year old man, Yaya Aduroki, who was arrested and charged before the Court in Lagos for burgling a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, told the Court that he never went to the Church to pray rather he was actually looking for money to steal.
The incident happened at the RCCG branch located at M.K.O Garden in Alausa area of Ikeja, Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Aduroki was said to have monitored the Church service and saw that the Church made huge sums of money during the service. He then brought an iron object, cut the toilet’s protective iron and sneaked in to steal before he was caught.
The Police alleged that the defendant burgled the Church through the toilet as he sneaked into the auditorium to steal money.
However, after he had broken toilet the iron bar and gained entrance, he was caught by the security man on duty, handed over to the Police at Alausa Division for interrogation and he confessed to have committed the offence.
The prosecutor, Mrs. Evelyn Ehiemua, asked the Court to give a date for her to present the facts of the matter so that he will be sentenced accordingly.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.E Adelakun, ordered her to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the matter till 6th September, 2019, for facts and sentence.
