The Managing Director of Evergreen Groups Limited, Chief Iyk Madu-Obi has expressed his desire to sponsor the forthcoming Ramadan Football Competition scheduled for next month at Igando Palace playground, Alimosho, Lagos.
The Chairman Organizing Committee, Prince Sulaiman Gbadamosi disclosed to journalists in his office that the forthcoming Ramadan Cup would be sponsored by Madu –Obi who has contributed to football development in Igandoland.
“I have spoken to the cup donor, Chief Madu- Obi concerning the Ramadan Cup and he was happy to sponsor the competition. He had sponsored the tournament before and he is ready to do it again. We want to assure all the participating teams that this year’s edition would be better than previous edition,” he said.
Gbadamosi described Madu-Obi as a sport loving person who is ready to commit his financial resources to make this year’s tourney a memorable one and urged other sports philanthropists in Igandoland and its environs to emulate his kind gesture.
Gbadamosi revealed that another Alimosho based sports lover, Azeez Arisekola has promised to donate trophy for the third position, saying that Arisekola’s kind gesture was as a result of the role Madu- Obi played in the sports development in Alimosho local government.
“This year’s edition is not going to be sponsored alone by Chief Madu- Obi but a good friend of the organizers, Arisekola has promised to donate trophy for third position and balls for the competition. I am happy to announce that our major sponsor, Chief Madu- Obi would announce the bumper package for the tournament when he comes back from abroad,” he said.
Meanwhile, twelve teams are expected to take part in the tournament that would last for a month. Among the teams that showed interest are Oredegbe FC, Young Stars United, EFCC, Wenger FC, Westfield FC and Ever Increasing FC.
