The residents of Magboro in Ibafo Community of Obafemi/Owode Local Government the Ogun State who recently marked their 10 years of frustration and living in darkness has been supplied with electricity power in the area.
The community comprising Igodo, Abule Oki, Ibasha, Ajegunle, Abule Oba, Gaun and others came into limelight late last year when they marked its 10th anniversary of living in darkness.
In response, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company who had not really given reason they refused to supply power to them have extended and installed electricity on the poles the community already bought.
Though the community welcomed the installation of power, but it seemed to have turned out to be some sort of another nightmare for them.
According to the residents, they were asked to source for transformers and they will need more than 30 transformers which will cost millions of naira to buy before the light could be extended to the buildings in the area.
The residents told P.M. EXPRESS that the major problem now was how to get transformers to extend the power in the area.
They are pleading with the Ogun State governor, Mr Ibikunle Amosun to come to their aids by assisting the residents with transformers.
One of the leaders of the community, Chief Greg Ajibose said they moved into the area and developed the place several years back and contributed money to buy poles, cables and some transformers and paid contractors that did the work.
Ajibose said the area have so much developed and housed thousands of residents who worked both in Lagos and Ogun States.
He said if there was power supply in the area, economic activity will be enhanced and there will be job creation for both men and women which means more revenue to both the local government and the State.
He appealed to the government to assist the community by providing the transformers and tap the economic potentials in the area for the benefit of the individual and the State.
