A major political realignment has taken place in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area as the PDP Women Leader, Mrs. Martom Arike Adedoyin, alongside several party executives, leaders and members, officially defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in support of the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi.

The defection, described as a significant boost for the APC ahead of 2027, also saw the movement of other prominent PDP figures including Hon. Ranti Subaru, Tenitayo Adefaka, Ilogbo Ward Woman Leader Mrs. Bukola Kutelu, and Mrs. Monsurat Ogunmokun.

They were received into the APC alongside respected community leaders such as Chief Nojimu Dagbure, Chief Fatusi Oloponda, and Chief Erubami.

Speaking on the development, stakeholders said the mass defection reflects growing confidence in the APC’s leadership, vision, and progressive agenda for Ogun State.

It also signals increasing grassroots support for Senator Yayi as the state prepares for the 2027 governorship election.

The new entrants were warmly received into the APC family by Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, alongside Dr. Kunle Salako, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, and Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele, APC Senatorial Candidate for Ogun West.

Party leaders described the movement as further proof of the APC’s expanding political strength at the grassroots level across Ogun West.

They noted that more women, youths, and community leaders are aligning with the party because of its commitment to inclusive governance, development, and a greater Ogun State.

Senator Yayi welcomed the defectors and assured them of equal opportunities within the party, pledging that his administration, when elected in 2027, will prioritize women empowerment, youth development, and community-driven projects.

The event ended with chants of solidarity as party faithful declared their support for the “Yayi 2027” agenda.

“The movement is growing. The people are joining. The future is YAYI 2027!” one of the speakers declared.

Political observers say the defection in Ado-Odo/Ota underscores the shifting political dynamics in Ogun State, with the APC consolidating support ahead of the next electoral cycle.
