A 24-year old man, Amos Christopher has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly beating his 4-year old younger brother, identified as Thyson to death and used a hoe to chop off his head.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Dobi village in Ga’anda District, Gombi LGA of Adamawa State, where they reside.
The suspect, who is now in Police custody, was said to be suffering from epilepsy, but it is not clear if it was the ailment that may have led him to commit the dastardly act on the innocent brother.
This was disclosed by the Adamawa Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed his arrest and detention, saying he is undergoing interrogation over his alleged conduct.
He explained that the suspect descended on little Thyson the previous day, 19th June, 2023, when his health condition became worse because he had a seizure outside and slumped on the 18th June, 2023, and was brought back home by neighbours.
“His health condition deteriorated with a complete change in his behaviour the following morning when he violently attacked his mother and younger brothers, who were at home with him.”
“He grabbed the 4-year-old boy and dragged him into a room where he locked up the door from inside and beat him up to death. All effort to rescue the small boy by his mother was fruitless.”
“He carried the dead body outside where he used the hoe in his possession and cut off the head.”
SP Nguroje stated that while investigation was going on, the suspect had been saying that he did not do anything, that his younger brother he was said to have killed is alive and at home.
He explained that the investigation will determine the mental state of the suspect and if the Police found him culpable for murder, he will be charged before the Court for the alleged offence and prosecuted for murder but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
