Police operatives from the Ikotun Division have arrested a 26-year old man, Kehinde Akintoye, for allegedly penetrating the private part of a 16-year old girl while assisting her to search for her missing phone in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 1st March, 2026, at Okerube Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos.
According to the Police, the victim lost her phone inside a room and the suspect offered to assist her to locate the phone inside the room apartment.
However, while searching for the phone,  he forcefully penetrated her private part and pretended to be searching for the missing phone. Before the victim could realize what was happening, he had already penetrated her private part and satisfied himself.
The alleged assault was reported to the Police. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct against the victim.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, Kehinde Akintoye ‘m’ and one suspect at large, on 1st March, Y2026, at about 2230hrs, at Okerube Abaranje, Ikotun-Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did sexually assault the victim, ‘f age 16years old, by penetrating her private part with your manhood under the pretence of helping her search for her lost phone, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 261, of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O.Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
