It was mixed feelings for the family of a 26-year old Chinedu who was declared missing five years ago as he surfaced and presented five children as fruits of his labour for those years he eloped with a Calabar lady, Glory Ekatte.
The family members were alarmed and decided to separate the couple over the rate at which they were producing children without corresponding finances to take care of them.
It was learnt that Ekatte was asked to stay with Chinedu’s parents while Chinedu will remain in his house as both claimed they do not like sex protective materials to prevent further pregnancies.
The incident happened at 33″ area close to Ontisha metropolitan city in Anambra State where the lovers had gone into hiding for those years.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Chinedu had a ‘memorable encounter’ with Ekatte when he was just 21 and he decided to elope with her to an unknown place for those years. In those years, Ekatte and Chinedu withdrew from their parents and were busy in love making which eventually produced those children not counting the ones they reportedly lost through abortions.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that to avoid any disturbance, Chinedu also left his former business at the Bridge head market in Onitsha and started another entirely without informing any of their relations.
The parents declared him missing and reported his disappearance to the police in various commands to no avail.
It was gathered that the parents also sought spiritual solutions, prayed and fasted for those years until he came out from his hiding. When Chinedu eventually came out, he went to his parents, asked for forgiveness and explained what happened.
Chinedu explained that he met Ekatte who was then a house maid in their area in Awada area of Onithsa at her tender age and they fell in love. He narrated that they decided to elope because he knew that their parents will not support their marriage at that tender age.
P.M.EXPRESS asked to know why he had such number of children within that short period. He explained that Ekatte was very fertile and they were unable to control the pregnancies.
Some of the family members who spoke to P.M.EXPRESS expressed their disappointment and shock over the manner the couple had produced children within the period. It was also gathered that the family has therefore mandated Chinedu to relocate or travel abroad to avoid having more children if he does not want Ekatte to live with his parents.
How the family will achieve that was not yet known as his last child is about 8 months old at the moment. It was also gathered that the couple does not like sex protective materials as they claimed they do not satisfy their sexual urge.
