A 33-year old man, Sunday Ekwere, who was allegedly caught having sex with a 16-year old girl inside an uncompleted building in Lagos, has landed in trouble over the act.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the uncompleted building located at Dennis Osuya Street, Losoru in Ibeji Lekki area of Lagos, where they reside.
The girl, who reportedly followed him to the place, later denied him and claimed that she was lured into the act without her consent and was raped.
The suspect, Sunday, was handed over to the Police in the area who arrested and later handed him over to the Gender Section of the Command, Ikeja, Lagos for interrogation.
During interrogation, he admitted that he actually took the girl to the place where they engaged in the act before they were caught and handed over to the Police.
On the part of the girl, she insisted that she was confused and taken to the place where he penetrated her.
However, the Police found Sunday culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty.
But the Court did not take his plea after the Prosecutor, Supol Ezekiel Ayorinde, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B O. Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice while the prosecutor was directed to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The defendant may likely be transferred to the High Court if the DPP’s report finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence.
