A 35-year old man, Ishaya Markus, has been arrested by the Police in Adamawa State for allegedly stabbing another man, identified as Albert, to death after catching him sleeping with the wife, Libiyatu Albert.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 3rd March, 2024, at Luggere Gajere community in the Future Local Government Area of the State.
The wife of the deceased, Libiyatu Albert, also admitted to having an affair with Markus, which caused the fight between her lover and her husband, which led to his death.
“My husband had warned us when he got wind of what we were doing. We had fought over the issue as a result of which I left for my parents’ house.”
“Ishaya followed me, took me into the bush and slept with me. Again my late husband warned us but he slept with me five times thereafter.”
“We later resolved our family issues with my husband and he asked me to return to my matrimonial home. I even promised not to have an extra marital affair with the man again.”
“On the day the incident happened, Ishaya came to take me out again, but didn’t meet me at home at that time”, Libiyatu narrated.
The suspect, Markus, has also confessed to have perpetrated the crime and told the Police that he had repeatedly slept with Libiyatu, which led to his fight with her husband and he stabbed him to death.
He stated: “On that fateful day, I went to the community where the deceased and his wife lived so as to take her out again even after the warning but I did not meet her. While I was returning back home, I met with the deceased and he asked to know whether I went to see his wife again.”
“Fight ensued in the course of argument. He pulled out his knife and I also pulled out my own and we engaged in a bloody fight. He cut me on my hand and by the neck. I used my knife and stabbed him on his stomach two times and by the neck leading to his death.”
This was also disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Police Command, Nguroje, who confirmed that the suspect was in Police custody undergoing interrogation over his alleged conduct.
The image maker stated that the suspect has also confessed that he had repeatedly slept with Libiyatu and also stabbed her husband to death which is a case of wilful murder under the Criminal law of the State.
Meanwhile, the PPRO stated that the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, had ordered a discreet investigation and assured that the suspect would be prosecuted for murder after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
