Man, 36, Docked For Scaling Fence To Steal Neighbour’s Puppy At Night

A 36-year-old man, Mukaila Akeem, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly climbing the fence of his neighbour, Ogundipe Michael, at night and stealing his puppy, which he bought recently. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 14th October, 2024, at  Ajala Street, Ikotun area of Lagos.

 

After stealing the puppy at night, the owner of the dog, Mr Michael, later discovered that he was the person that stole the missing puppy and reported to the Police at Ikotun Division.

 

The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct by jumping the fence and stealing the dog but the Police did not state if it was recovered or not.

 

However, after interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for stealing and unlawful entering of the premises.

 

COUNT 1: That you, Mukaila Akeem “m” on 14th October, 2024, at Ajala Street, Ikotun-Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did commit felony to wit; stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to a punishable under Section 309 (1) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

 

COUNT II: That you, Mukaila Akeem “m” on the same date, time and place, in the  Magisterial District, did unlawfully enter into the premises of one Ogundipe Michael “m” by jumping through the fences with intent to commit felony therein and thereby committed an offence Contrary and Punishable under Section 308(2), of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

 

COUNT III: That you, Mukaila Akeem “m” on the same date, time and place, in t aforesaid Magisterial District, did steal a puppy owned by one Ogundipe Michael ” and thereby committed an offence Contrary and Punishable under Section 308( of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

 

He pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, did not oppose his bail application rather he asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while address will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned till 8th November, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
