A Lagos State Magistrate Court has ordered the remand of a 43-year old man, Friday Garba, for allegedly sleeping with his biological daughter, 15, for the past 10 years before she eventually exposed him.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Odumtuga Street, Akinogu area of Ipaja, Lagos, where they reside.
Apart from defiling the elderly daughter for those years, the suspect, Friday, allegedly started defiling the second daughter, 8 and both daughters were said to have lost their virginity to him.
He has been charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for defilement, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
According to the Police, the defendant molested the first victim for those years and warned her not to tell anyone that he was sleeping with her because it will be seen as a shameful act and victim kept it to herself and was bearing the trauma alone.
However,  the whole assualt got exposed after the defendant started molesting the second daughter and the elderly one eventually opened up and exposed him.
The matter was reported to the Family Support Unit at Ipaja Police Divisional headquarters and the defendant was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged dastardly conduct.
During interrogation, he reportedly admitted to have done so as the two daughters bore witness against him before the Police for what he had done to them over the years.
The Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Court for the alleged offence.
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to give a date and refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
