A 51-year old man, Mr. Godwin Udoh Akpan has landed in trouble after his 6-year old girl exposed him in Lagos for inserting his finger into her private part.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Modupe Street, off Balogun Street, Ikeja where he resided with the victim without his wife.
Akwa Ibom State-born Akpan has been arrested and detained by the Gender section of the Police Command, Lagos. He was paraded by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal at the Command in Ikeja, Lagos.
The police boss said that the Command received a report from a faith based organisation that the suspect was alleged to have been abusing the victim by fingering her private part. He said the Gender section of the Command moved in, arrested Akpan and investigated the allegation.
CP Edgal said preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. Akpan brought the victim from their home town in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State where he was living with her mother before he relocated to Lagos in 2018. He said that the suspect usually kept the victim with one Mama Winner, who was a member of Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG.
However, the CP said on 23rd of May, 2018, when the suspect came to pick the victim, the little girl refused to follow him. When asked why she refused, she revealed that her father was abusing her at home.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the mother of the victim was still in their home town where she worked as a farmer and did not live with them, which gave Akpan the opportunity to abuse her severally. The police boss said that the victim had been retrieved from his care and kept in protective custody. The suspect was undergoing interrogations and had already confessed to the crime but blamed it on the devil.
Mr. Edgal said that the suspect will definitely be charged to court for the alleged offence at the conclusion of investigations.
