Man, 52, Arraigned For Allegedly Stealing Two Volkswagen Buses Worth N4. 9m

A 52-year old man, Kolawole Ismail, has been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court over allegations of stealing two Volkswagen T4 buses valued at N4.9m belonging to Azeez Abiola Faidat.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in January, 2026, at Ijegun area of Lagos.
The defendant allegedly stole two Volkswagen T4 buses with registration numbers LSD 670 XY and AKD 871 YL belonging to the complainant.
It was alleged that after stealing the buses, he reportedly escaped, went into hiding and disconnected every communication he had with the complainant.
The matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division and the Police moved into action. The operatives eventually arrested the defendant and detained him at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After thorough interrogation,  the Police found him culpable and consequent consequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
Part of the two counts charge included conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and theft, contrary to Sections 168(d) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The second charge stated that in January, 2026 at Ijegun, within the Lagos Magisterial District, the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by stealing two Volkswagen T4 buses with registration numbers LSD 670 XY and AKD 871 YL valued at N4,900,000.00, property of one Azeez Abiola Faidat.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Miss F.R. Ogunkoyode, granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 9th June, 2026, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions
