CYRIACUS IZUEKWE
A 53-year old man, Adekunle Aladesanmi, has landed in trouble for allegedly conspiring with a nurse, Wuraola Ibrahim, to induce abortion on a 14-year old girl and they were arrested in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Temidire Street, Ajegunle, Apapa area of Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the victim got pregnant and the suspect conspired and administered some drugs in order to terminate the pregnancy. The Police however, did not state if it was Aladesanmi that got her pregnant or not before taking her to the nurse, Wuraola, for the abortion.
However, the act got exposed when the victim had complications and revealed what happened to her parents, who then reported the matter to the Police.
The Police in the area arrested the two suspects and transferred them to the Gender Section of the Command for investigation over the alleged crime, which attracts several years of imprisonment if they are tried and found guilty before the Court of Law.
At the Ogba Magistrates Court, where they were arraigned, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Ajibade, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 24th January, 2022, for mention.
