A 61-year old man, Agbaje Oladapo, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he allegedly lured a 19-year old girl into sex.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Oladapo has been arrested.
The incident happened at Akowonjo Street, Isolo area of Lagos, where they reside.
The Police however, did not state how the suspect, Oladapo, raped the victim, who could be described as an adult. But it was stated that he had sex with her without her consent, which is statutory rape under the Lagos State Law.
After his arrest, he was transferred to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Command for interrogation after the victim had reported that she was raped by the suspect.
He reportedly denied to have raped her as he claimed that he actually slept with her with her consent and she never complained during the romp.
After investigation, the Police found Oladapo culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is found guilty before the Court.
However, when he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Bisi Ogunleye, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s report while adjourned the matter till 17th February, 2022.
The matter will be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence over jurisdiction.
